Avyan is at the point where he has so much to say

Avyan is at the point where he has so much to say…..but it’s all in toddler-speak. I am thinking of recording a bunch of footage of him speaking and then asking him to translate it for me in a couple of years. Good idea or best idea?

Best idea! The worst thing that can happen is that he’ll have as little of an idea what he’s trying to say as you when watching it 5yrs from now 🙂

That will just be a good memory for you – he’s not going to remember what he meant though.

But you never know!!! especially if the video captures enough context.

Sometimes you can’t even remember what some code you wrote years ago does and you want him to translate his toddler babbling for you?

I mean, best idea.

Do it. Worst scenario is that if it’s untranslatable, when he grows up and spews out gibberish, you can pull up the video and say he’s never changed. 🙂

faster if you guess now and ask him to confirm on the spot. I can now kinda understand most of what Holden says

Ruminating on this more, we clearly have to throw Deep Learning at this problem. If machine learning can’t decipher toddler-speak, then however are we going to develop AGI????

Recording it now for later analysis was my first thought when I read your post.

Crowdsource this. Record a bunch of babbling babies and train a neural net

FWIW, Ycombinator has a request for startup in this direction, but for dogs.

Best idea because it is all real. When our second was born the first was able to translate the toddler speak fairly quickly.

Btw baby sign is a great way to help him construct some of the sounds into words.

My son was a bit older (2 or 3) when he came up with his own language (on top of English). I wrote down his words and supposed meanings. Every week he came up with new words in his language for the same words. I would call his BS :-)…so there you go, you should record!
